NIST PSCR: PSCR 2021 The Digital Experience Marketing Campaign
MARCOM Awards Winner, Platinum - Strategic Communications, Marketing Campaign, Special Event
By the time PSCR’s virtual conference was due to launch in June 2021, people were getting burnt out on teleconferencing—while at the same time craving genuine human connection. Knowing that PSCR’s target audience of public safety stakeholders needed empathy, understanding, reassurance, and flexibility, I led the creation of a comprehensive promotional campaign designed to inspire engagement by emphasizing the value of connection. By amplifying promotions through partnerships and the community across numerous digital touch points, the campaign successfully inspired 314 unique attendees to engage with “live” content and 170 LinkedIn participants to join the chat. The cherry on top? Sixty-one percent of participants were new to PSCR, and said they’d be likely to attend the in-person conference in 2022 (4.4 out of 5).
NIST PSCR: PSCR 2020 The Digital Experience Marketing Campaign
MARCOM Awards Winner, Platinum - Strategic Communications, Marketing Campaign, Special Event
In 2020, NIST’s Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) Division canceled its yearly in-person event for the first time in a decade. Unsure how PSCR’s stakeholders regarded online events, I led the creation of a comprehensive promotional campaign designed to inspire participation in PSCR 2020: The Digital Experience. Messaging across owned, borrowed, and earned media emphasized PSCR’s mission, transparency, the ease and low risk of signing up, and the value of attending. The result was a 132% increase in event participation (vs the 2019 in-person stakeholder meeting).
